RETURN TO TASEQ EAST & SORENSENITE HUNT

Classic tugtupite (red) in analcime (non-FL) specimen from the eastern end of Taseq slope. SW UV. Width 10 cm.

Peter gives the electric drill a good workout on some grayish sodalite. Midway up Taseq slope east.

Extremely coarse-grained 'comb texture'. Arfvedsonite crystals in albite vein.
Chilled margin at left; largest crystals towards vein center.

Taseq tugtupite in-place near top of Taseq slope east. Most white is analcime, lesser amounts of albite.

Lee, with a portion of our choice find of Taseq tugtupite. Snow marks upper reaches of the slope.

Returning back down to camp, our weather takes a dive. Fog and drizzle rolls in from the sea.

Dinner time: Corby working on a stove setup. Communal tent at right.

After dinner, we hike up to the dark talus opposite camp below Kvanefjeld in search of the rare Be-Sn
mineral sorensenite. We find it in many places, but most 'commits suicide' under our efforts to remove it.
Many shards; few specimens.

Evening view of Mt. Ilímaussaq from the talus field below Mt. Kvanefjeld.

View looking out the other way, west, down Narsaq valley towards the sea.

Unnoticed, a fog rolls back in and fills the valley.. And our campground.

Evening view over sorensenite-sprinkled boulders. The fog now reaches the eastern end of the valley.
